Recent Hospitalization

I very much believe that truly effective counseling must be consistent, predictable, and in-person. To help assure the most useful therapeutic experience possible, I only schedule sessions on a weekly recurring basis and all appointments are in-person. My general attendance expectations can be found here.

If you’re seeking services following a recent hospitalization for suicidality or other mental health crisis, I have two additional attendance expectations. These are:

  • No missed sessions during the first 90 days. I’ll allow one rescheduled appointment per month during this time, if the session is rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance, is held the same calendar week, and my availability permits.
  • If it seems clinically appropriate, I might require twice weekly sessions for the first 90 days or until we agree that once weekly is an acceptable frequency.

I have these attendance expectations to help assure your safety and that counseling will be the most effective possible. With that in mind, if you’re unable or unwilling to commit to and follow them, I’m probably not the right therapist for you or your teen. I encourage you to find another therapist who’ll be a better match for your scheduling needs.
