I very much believe that truly effective counseling must be consistent, predictable, and in-person. With that in mind, I only schedule appointments as weekly, recurring sessions and only meet in-person at my office in Fremont or Tukwila.
If you’re seeking services following a recent hospitalization for suicidality or other mental health crisis, I have two additional expectations. These are:
- No missed appointments during the first 90 days. I’ll allow one rescheduled appointment per month during this time, if the session is rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance, is held the same calendar week, and my availability permits.
- I might require twice weekly sessions for the first 90 days, if this seems clinically appropriate.
In addition, I request that you provide a discharge summary from you hospitalization within 7 days of our first meeting.
I have these expectations to help assure your safety and that counseling will be the most effective possible. With that in mind, if you’re unable or unwilling to commit to these expectations — and then follow them — I’m probably not the right therapist for you or your teen. I encourage you to find another therapist who’ll be a better match for your scheduling needs.
